odd little alucine

It's never previously occurred to Cayra to put a door across an alucine boundary, but now that she's encountered it in practice it makes sense. It makes it visually obvious and it lets you lock it if you want. This door wasn't locked, and it looked like it led to a public bathroom, not a bar, from the signage, so she's still confused. Still, it's a good idea. She twists open the glass vial pendant around her neck and bends her head to the little blue lily inside to make a note of it; as an afterthought she tries to send it off to her antheomancer-chatcircle, anything to have a decent conversation, but it doesn't go. Her flower doesn't look wilting, but she can put it back in the garden and get a fresher one for the vial later. At least her personal files look okay. She closes up the vial again, giving the flower a touch of antheomancy for its health, and finds a bathroom inside the bar that dominates this little alucine.

And then she emerges into the bar. It doesn't seem to be staffed. Or stocked. Why wasn't it locked?

Inside the bar: there continues to be no bartender.

Cayra goes over to the bar - and then yelps when a napkin appears out of nowhere.

Flynn peers curiously over her shoulder.

The napkin says, Hello. Can I get you anything to drink?

"Who are you?"

[affodell]

I'm the bar.

"How... are you the bar?"

I am a sapient, magical bar. I can produce beverages, among other things, and the first drink is free.

"...After which?"

After which I charge reasonable currency-dependent prices.

"Can I please have a drink to cure being a weaver?"

[affodell]

I'm afraid I'm slightly limited in my selection of items with magical traits of any kind.

Flynn shrugs, "It was worth a try. Will we be able to get home from here?"

[affodell]

The front door will lead to the home of whoever opens it.

"Will we be able to come back?"

[affodell]

The door may or may not reappear for you. I don't control it.

"So... the door I came in through doesn't usually lead here."

No.

"Where do you come from? Are there a lot of places like you?"

I am the only one of me I know of and I have always been here.

"What things can you make besides beverages?"

Most medium-sized nonmagical nonweapon nonliving objects.

"Hmm."

"Can you make seeds, or do those count as living?"

[affodell]

I can make seeds. And yeast, and yogurt. "Living" is a slight gray area.

Flynn pulls out a small bag and dumps a handful of small, glittering metallic orbs onto the table. Most are walnut sized and copper, but four are smaller than a fingernail and gold.
"I'm not sure how much this will buy, but do you have any seeds that will produce fruit in weeks or that will grow in the winter? Also something surprising for my free drink please."

The orbs disappear before they can roll off the bar; a tall red drink with ice and a straw and a twist of lime appears, and four small bags of seeds with it. (They are labeled "quicklime", "snowroot", "kudzu peas", and "December oat", and each has a little set of instructions on how and when to plant.) How are these?

Flynn picks up the seeds, reads the labels, and then carefully pockets them.
"Wonderful! Thank you." She takes a curious sip of her drink.

The drink is sweet and fruity and unfamiliar.

"How is it?"

[erinflight]

"Really good," Flynn takes another, longer sip, "Do you want to try it?"

[affodell]

"Maybe a little taste." Sip. "Hm, not my thing."

It's not what I would have picked for you.

"What would you pick for me?"

The answer is a milkshake, apparently. Cayra likes it. Slurp.

"I like this place." Flynn says and then looks at Cayra, "I've been wondering. If you don't have stars, what does your sky look like at night? Is it just black?"

"I mean, yeah? There's no light to see it by. If you have a flower or a torch or you can use light-shedding magic and you go to a boundary it's blue, same as daytime - I mean, affected a little by the color of the light you're using."

[erinflight]

"What happens if you touch the boundary? Is it solid?"

[affodell]

"You can't go through it, but it's not... an object, exactly."
