odd little alucine

It's never previously occurred to Cayra to put a door across an alucine boundary, but now that she's encountered it in practice it makes sense. It makes it visually obvious and it lets you lock it if you want. This door wasn't locked, and it looked like it led to a public bathroom, not a bar, from the signage, so she's still confused. Still, it's a good idea. She twists open the glass vial pendant around her neck and bends her head to the little blue lily inside to make a note of it; as an afterthought she tries to send it off to her antheomancer-chatcircle, anything to have a decent conversation, but it doesn't go. Her flower doesn't look wilting, but she can put it back in the garden and get a fresher one for the vial later. At least her personal files look okay. She closes up the vial again, giving the flower a touch of antheomancy for its health, and finds a bathroom inside the bar that dominates this little alucine.

And then she emerges into the bar. It doesn't seem to be staffed. Or stocked. Why wasn't it locked?

"Yes!" Flynn grins, truly delighted, and hugs Cayra. "Thank you!"

"You're welcome." Cayra wasn't expecting hugs, but she'll allow it.

Flynn wishes she had someway to show Cayra her relief that she will not hurt her family and her new hope that maybe a solution is possible. Somehow, without Flynn saying a word, Cayra knows.

"I want to drop these seeds off at home before I go anywhere," Flynn says, "And I need to tell them I'm a weaver."

[affodell]

"If you aren't absolutely positive that these portals will let us get back here without a door, I should probably deliver the seeds and message while you hold the door," Cayra says. "And I'm also not sure if I can pull a portal after me into the room, and wouldn't like to abandon one in another world. Bar might know if it'll work."

[erinflight]

"Why don't we go ask and get some more cloth? I can leave a portal in a discreet place in my world in case we find a way to fix this."

[affodell]

"Okay."

Back into the bar, portals following her. "Bar, do you know if these portals - left in appropriate places - will let us get to and from here, or between my world and hers?"

I see no particular reason to expect they will not. If you intend to leave one here, I'd be obliged if you'd put it outdoors.

"Okay. So, leave one here, go to your world, leave one there and come back here, and make a third to bring back to my world," Cayra says. "This might be easier if there were two layers of password; I don't think right now I can lock you out from going back to your world even if that's not a good idea without rendering you totally unconscious or cutting off your room access, which you'll want to be able to feed yourself without help and so on."

"Try talking to the room, and see if it will make you several passwords?"

[affodell]

"Will do." Cayra ducks into the room. "Room, please accept... 'springtime puppy wherewithal'... as a password that allows requests of food, dishes, furniture, amenities of personal hygeine, and other categories to be added by me later, by the holder of that second password. Thank you."

[erinflight]

A figure rises from the floor, writes the password and Cayra's list on the back of the portal with a finger. The figure bows. It and the writing both disappear.

The part where it does things after she has thanked it takes a little getting used to. She lets herself out. "It took it just fine. Bar, can I borrow a pen?"

Bar loans her a pen. "I can't make it appear anywhere really unobtrusive on you, but the permissions are pretty minor. Still, I'd rather random people we meet not see it. Behind your ear?"

"Sure," Flynn tilts her head and brushes her hair aside.

[affodell]

Cayra writes the second password on her. "There. That will get you food and dishes and furniture and, like, soap and stuff, and I can add categories if we think of things."

[erinflight]

"I can make two more portals, and then drop off the seeds." She pauses, "Could you make some more money? It would be wonderful if I could bring home enough seeds for a full harvest."

[affodell]

"Sure." Cayra nips in, gets physical currency from her world since Bar will take whatever, and comes out. "I don't think it matters very much here but I'll be reluctant to make too much money back in my world, it'll get attention and mess up the value of the money," she remarks, slapping down the bag of silver. "More seeds for Flynn, Bar, please."

Bar appears more seeds, more of the same and some new types also meeting one or both of the stated criteria.

"Thank you Bar," Flynn says gathering together the bags, "And actually, I've already done it twice so-"
Flynn attempts to weave two portals, identical to the two already made.

Cayra lets her.

Flynn loses a good chunk of her self-control and two new portals begin nuzzling at Cayra.

[affodell]

Cayra directs one of them to go wait patiently outside in the woods and be shy, but project a knocking sound into the room if somebody looks like they need help, wanders near it, and she's in the room. She opens the door back into her own world and puts one through it and tells it to stay and be shy. And she tucks the others under her arm and says to Flynn, "Lead the way."

Flynn holds the door open for Cayra, it leads into her empty bedroom.

Cayra follows her out.

Flynn closes the door and opens it again to a small living area.
A young man and two kids are huddled around a book.
The man looks up when he sees the door open, and then his expression morphs into one of shock, "Who are you?"

[affodell]

"My name is Cayra."

[erinflight]

"But how did you get in there?"
"Magic Ray," Flynn says, "But she's not a weaver, I am."
Ray puts his head in his hands.
"I've come to say goodbye. Cayra has a different kind of magic, and she's going to stop me from hurting anyone. I've brought you these, you should be able to grow some of them right away." Flynn sets the seeds down on the floor.
