odd little alucine

It's never previously occurred to Cayra to put a door across an alucine boundary, but now that she's encountered it in practice it makes sense. It makes it visually obvious and it lets you lock it if you want. This door wasn't locked, and it looked like it led to a public bathroom, not a bar, from the signage, so she's still confused. Still, it's a good idea. She twists open the glass vial pendant around her neck and bends her head to the little blue lily inside to make a note of it; as an afterthought she tries to send it off to her antheomancer-chatcircle, anything to have a decent conversation, but it doesn't go. Her flower doesn't look wilting, but she can put it back in the garden and get a fresher one for the vial later. At least her personal files look okay. She closes up the vial again, giving the flower a touch of antheomancy for its health, and finds a bathroom inside the bar that dominates this little alucine.

And then she emerges into the bar. It doesn't seem to be staffed. Or stocked. Why wasn't it locked?

"I"m not sure what exactly would work. I would try to lock away my power so either I'd have to get specific permission to use it, or you could give me commands I'd have to obey. Some weavers have slaves, though I've never seen a weaver become a slave. I would ask someone at home, but the fear there runs very very deep. They'll use woven items, but no one will talk to a weaver or even let one get close."

"The vice for automancy is self-centeredness. I think I'll be able to keep it significantly under control for most purposes but I don't know that I'm a good choice for long-term keeping another person responsibly. But... you might not have any other options, huh."

" If you could prevent me from using my power, but not force me to use it, would you be tempted to abuse that?"

"I don't think so, but if I had to, generally, keep an eye on you, I might wind up neglecting you."

"Hmm. If I got access to the room, I could take care of myself. I could give you control over my power and permission to ignore me without any guilt once I completely lose myself. Until then I can make useful things for you and you could try to help me understand weaving? If we do find a solution, you could give me permission to remove your control."

"...If this is what you want to try and you understand the problems with an automancer as your keeper, then, okay."

"Thank you. I know its a far from perfect solution, but it's the best I've found so far, and my ability to think of solutions is starting to go away."

"And I don't have enough information to think of better ones. So, okay. What do we need to do to set this up?"

"We'll need to figure out exactly how it's going to work, so the threads don't have much room to twist it."

"Yeah. You should need permission not only to use magic at all but to use any particular magic, so I don't try to give you permission to make a portal and wind up with an evil stepstool..."

"Have you had problems with evil stepstools?"

[affodell]

"No, but if you made one I'd be very annoyed, especially if it ran away when I tried to claw it."

"No evil stepstools, I promise. Can I use weaving to check if you're being honest for a minute? I want to make sure this isn't a terrible mistake."

"Check how."

[erinflight]

"Weave the threads between us, and have them tell me if you're lying. I'll remove them right away."

"Will they tell you anything else?"

[erinflight]

"They'll only look for honesty. I'll be very specific."

[affodell]

"Okay."

[erinflight]

Flynn weaves the threads between them and asks, "Are you planning on hurting me or using me to hurt other people?"

"No."

[erinflight]

"Will you help me try to understand weaving and stop the progression of weaving's vices?"

[affodell]

"Yes - insofar as I can pay attention to that once I'm neck-deep in my own vice, but I'll make a note of it." She pulls her flower and does that.

"Will you allow me to undo the spell if we find a way to undo weaving's vices?"

"Unless I have some reason to believe you're dangerous absent your vices, yes."
