Then abruptly turns into a griffin, with no more fingers to lace. "Ha!"

Flap, flap. Not enough to take off, just stretching the wings. To the somewhat limited extent griffins can grin, she is doing that.

Blueberry giggles. "Were you stuck as a human for a long time? Do you want to go outside and fly?"

"I've been stuck as a human for so long! Are - there griffins here, too, not just unicorns, will people think it's weird if I'm out being a griffin?"

"There's griffins! Not very many of them nearby, but they're not unheard of. And Ponyville is a nice, friendly town, I'm sure nopony will pester you."

"Ha. All right. I'm gonna fly. I might not be very good at it right away. Humans can't fly."

Door! The outdoors! Flapping!

The sky is clear of both clouds and ponies, except for a far-off grey pegasus.

She does not need to meet a pegasus right now. She needs to figure out how to make turns correctly. Swoop!

Blueberry's prediction was correct: nopony pesters her. She can figure out her flying in peace.

Since she's being left alone... and cannot turn into anything else while in midair... maybe someone else should have a turn. Flying is still fun even if you're not especially supposed to have wings.

The amulet does not indeed turn them into any non-winged things while they are flying around as a griffin. It is such a convenient amulet that way.

And now this river has a blue-haired teenage mermaid in it, scaled tail rippling under the water, wearing Traditional Seashell-Based Attire.
