Then abruptly turns into a griffin, with no more fingers to lace. "Ha!"

Flap, flap. Not enough to take off, just stretching the wings. To the somewhat limited extent griffins can grin, she is doing that.

Blueberry giggles. "Were you stuck as a human for a long time? Do you want to go outside and fly?"

"I've been stuck as a human for so long! Are - there griffins here, too, not just unicorns, will people think it's weird if I'm out being a griffin?"

"There's griffins! Not very many of them nearby, but they're not unheard of. And Ponyville is a nice, friendly town, I'm sure nopony will pester you."

"Ha. All right. I'm gonna fly. I might not be very good at it right away. Humans can't fly."

Door! The outdoors! Flapping!

The sky is clear of both clouds and ponies, except for a far-off grey pegasus.

She does not need to meet a pegasus right now. She needs to figure out how to make turns correctly. Swoop!

Blueberry's prediction was correct: nopony pesters her. She can figure out her flying in peace.

Since she's being left alone... and cannot turn into anything else while in midair... maybe someone else should have a turn. Flying is still fun even if you're not especially supposed to have wings.

The amulet does not indeed turn them into any non-winged things while they are flying around as a griffin. It is such a convenient amulet that way.

So Emmy has a turn, and Zix has a short turn, and Clair has a turn and flies higher to see if there is water nearby.

There's a river! It looks reasonably placid as rivers go, and pretty roomy.

...Emmy has to take a turn to avoid a problem with wet feathers and fur, real quick, and then it's Clair again, and she's in the water.

The amulet's convenient properties extend to providing each true form with whatever clothing the relevant occupant prefers.

And now this river has a blue-haired teenage mermaid in it, scaled tail rippling under the water, wearing Traditional Seashell-Based Attire.

It is improbably comfortable for attire based on seashells. What an extremely convenient amulet.

So convenient! It is their favorite thing now. Unless this was all part of the comb's plan in which case the comb is first. But still.

Clair swims, and then hauls herself up onto shore and lets Palisade take over, and Palisade flies back to the library to tell the tiny blue unicorn "thank you".

The tiny blue unicorn has tidied away most of the research and is reading the rest of the artifacts book. She looks up and waves a hoof when the griffin returns. "Hello! Did you have fun flying?"
