odd little alucine

It's never previously occurred to Cayra to put a door across an alucine boundary, but now that she's encountered it in practice it makes sense. It makes it visually obvious and it lets you lock it if you want. This door wasn't locked, and it looked like it led to a public bathroom, not a bar, from the signage, so she's still confused. Still, it's a good idea. She twists open the glass vial pendant around her neck and bends her head to the little blue lily inside to make a note of it; as an afterthought she tries to send it off to her antheomancer-chatcircle, anything to have a decent conversation, but it doesn't go. Her flower doesn't look wilting, but she can put it back in the garden and get a fresher one for the vial later. At least her personal files look okay. She closes up the vial again, giving the flower a touch of antheomancy for its health, and finds a bathroom inside the bar that dominates this little alucine.

And then she emerges into the bar. It doesn't seem to be staffed. Or stocked. Why wasn't it locked?

"The doorknob's a little more conspicuous than I'd like, and will make it hard to carry the cloth in a kangaroo pouch, so if you can avoid that it would be good. And maybe put the door facing the first one a hundred feet away?"

Flynn goes and grabs another piece of cloth, the second portal is finished in seconds and appears a hundred feet away. Flynn goes to inspect it. Instead of a doorknob, there is now a small latch.

"It was a lot easier that time, though the latch also wasn't intentional," Flynn says, "Do you want to go outside and try to break it?"

"Sure. You might not want to be in the portal room while I do that, in case something... happens?"

"Yea, that would be bad." Flynn walks back through the first portal onto the grass.

And Cayra turns her fingernails on one hand into claws and starts carefully trying to shred the portal.

The portal leaps away from her hand, breaking free of the tree branch and moving back several feet.

"It escaped," Cayra giggles.

[erinflight]

Flynn grins, "I guess that's one way to stay safe. See if you can call it back?"

[affodell]

"Heeere portal portal."

[erinflight]

The portal drifts towards Cayra slowly and then gently nudges her outstretched arm.

[affodell]

"Awwww. It's tame." Pat pat.

[erinflight]

The portal drapes itself over Cayra's arm, gently vibrating.

"It's alive. I created life. I swear I did not mean to do that."

[affodell]

"I wonder how much of a personality it has. ...Roll over."

[erinflight]

The portal flops down on the ground.

"I wonder if it will listen to me too? Come here portal."

Nothing happens.

[affodell]

"I wonder if it will stop listening to me if I get rid of the password."

She removes it from the inside of her mouth. "Here portal."

[erinflight]

The portal disappears.

[affodell]

"Uh."

Back goes the password in the cheek. "Poooortal?"

[erinflight]

The portal reappears instantly and nudges Cayra's hand.

[affodell]

"Aww! Okay, so that's password-based."

[erinflight]

"I guess it's only visible if someone has the password. I wonder, can you ask for me not to see it?"

The first portal is peeking around a tree behind them.

[affodell]

"Be shy," Cayra tells the portal.

[erinflight]

"And I can't see it. So you won't have to worry about it being stolen or anything."

[affodell]

"I like this portal. Hmmmm... Stay," Cayra tells the portal, and then she goes some hundred yards away, and then says, "C'mere, portal."

[erinflight]

It comes floating towards her. The other portal slips out from behind the tree and joins it.

"Aww. Was the first one supposed to be able to do that? Is it contagious?"
