odd little alucine

It's never previously occurred to Cayra to put a door across an alucine boundary, but now that she's encountered it in practice it makes sense. It makes it visually obvious and it lets you lock it if you want. This door wasn't locked, and it looked like it led to a public bathroom, not a bar, from the signage, so she's still confused. Still, it's a good idea. She twists open the glass vial pendant around her neck and bends her head to the little blue lily inside to make a note of it; as an afterthought she tries to send it off to her antheomancer-chatcircle, anything to have a decent conversation, but it doesn't go. Her flower doesn't look wilting, but she can put it back in the garden and get a fresher one for the vial later. At least her personal files look okay. She closes up the vial again, giving the flower a touch of antheomancy for its health, and finds a bathroom inside the bar that dominates this little alucine.

And then she emerges into the bar. It doesn't seem to be staffed. Or stocked. Why wasn't it locked?

"Well, they seem friendly, definitely, but I hope they don't change too much, I think I like how they work right now."

"I'll make an effort not to change them if I make anything new. I still feel pretty rational, so I could make something else if you want? I could put something inside the room. This has been helpful so far. A lot of woven things at home are alive, but I wasn't sure if it was the weaver's idea or the magic itself."

"Do you know if the room will be daylit all the time, or on a cycle, or if the light's controllable, or what?"

"I tried to make it bright all the time, but maybe it will listen to you too?"

"As long as it isn't, say, dark when there's nobody inside, I'm going to grow some flowers there. Bright all the time works fine. But I don't need weaving to get flowers. Hmmm."

"Maybe, if it's not already responsive to you, I could try to make it responsive? I could also add some items inside, and see how the threads interpret them."

"What kind of items?"

"Furniture? Magical equipment? Some sort of window so you can look outside?"

"Windows in the portals could be useful. One-way ones. Furniture I can get at home without cost to your sanity. What kind of magical equipment?"

"I was wondering if I can make something that makes something else. Like, could I make a table that's always full of food, or a cupboard that pops out requested items?"

"Ooh. I like it."

[erinflight]

"Do you want me to make you another portal first, just in case?"

[affodell]

"These ones are so smart and friendly that I don't know there's much reason to have a third, not at the expense of other cool magic stuff."

"Can you ask one of the portals to open?"

[affodell]

"Open up," Cayra tells a portal, patting it.

Flynn steps inside, "I might as well make the room itself produce the items."

[affodell]

"Sure. They could just appear in your hand or next to you when you asked for them?"

[erinflight]

"Next to you, in case you want something big. Maybe use a code phrase for this too so you don't make items by accident? You could write it..." Flynn looks around, "There's not really a good place."

[affodell]

"If it's just so I don't make things by accident I could have to say 'please' after naming or describing an object. And have the general room password on my person."

[erinflight]

"But what if you're talking to someone else, and ask them to 'pass the book please'?"

[affodell]

"Good point. Have to address my remarks to the room? Like, 'Room, a bed.' ...Also it would be nice if it could edit, move, and dismiss objects once they were made. There's lots of space, but if we have to work out an understanding of my design tastes it could get crowded."

[erinflight]

"Maybe start with 'Room please' and end with 'Thank you Room' and it will take anything between those two phrases as a command? If we do that it will probably also come alive."

"I hope it's as friendly as its portals."

[erinflight]

"Lets hope! Okay, so I'll change the room to make objects and obey commands that are between those two phrases, if the person has the password written on them. Any other details I'm missing?"

"I think that covers it - as long as it doesn't drop the things on my head, or anything."
