Wherever she's unexpected, it's night, and it's cold. That's not too much of a problem, though; there are plenty of lights around, and the road beneath the eight year old's feet is quite warm. The place is rather deserted, but the scenery's pretty. There are well cared for gardens, with some of the plants contained glowing subtly, and there are two moons perched delicately in the sky.

Okay, so she's definitely not in a world she's seen before. It's magic, probably, and there are people here around somewhere. Maybe helpful people who know where Milliways is.

Plod plod.

There looks to be some kind of doorway, there, freestanding. It is magic; the room through it has sunlight streaming in through a skylight. There are other doors in it, and they are similarly magical.

[campanas]

Oh, that's promising. It's not the nice bar, but it's something. Pen approaches the freestanding doorway inquisitively.

[aestrix]

It is pretty nonthreatening! It could actually be a regular doorway, except for the fact that it goes to a place far away. And has nothing at all behind it but wall. A warm breeze floats through the door.

[campanas]

Step.

[aestrix]

It behaves exactly like an ordinary door! Except now, she is in a room with a lot of magical doors to other places. It's noticeably warmer here.

[maggie_of_the_owls]

Unexpected, perhaps, but not necessarily unprecedented. These terribly rude fellows, for instance, seem to have some idea of what she might be, even if it's not the right one. Unfortunately, they seem more interested in jeering and attempted violence than explaining exactly what a mutant is and why they think she is one.

[campanas]

She is invulnerable.

She is not immobile; they can knock her around in the course of finding that out. She is upset and disoriented by the experience and the mussing of her hair and feathers and she screams and hits back.

She's very strong.

[maggie_of_the_owls]

She is very strong! She is also very outnumbered. And these men are not well pleased by what seemed like it was going to be an easy target fighting back.
They can't hurt her, but it might take them a while to figure this out.

[campanas]

"DO NOT BE HITTING," howls the little ostensible mutant. "IT IS NOT HOW FIXING PROBLEMS!"

[maggie_of_the_owls]

The men don't seem to be listening.

[iamnotpolaris]

Someone else is.
"That's very good advice," says someone from behind one of the men blocking Pen's view. "I suggest you lot take it. Before I decide not to."

[maggie_of_the_owls]

After a few minutes, a woman in a trenchcoat approaches her. She studies the wings for a moment, before saying hesitantly, "That...isn't a costume, is it?"

[campanas]

"No."

[maggie_of_the_owls]

"Are you lost? Do you need help?"

[campanas]

"So much lost, but maybe cannot helping. Know how fix door going nice bar?"

[maggie_of_the_owls]

"I. Do not even know what that means."

[campanas]

"...Don't grammar so good."

[witchwatcher]

She's in a dirt alleyway between two buildings that wouldn't be out of place on Samaria, in a smallish town. People glance at her a few times, talking in some strange language, but don't bother her. There's an unfamiliar castle in the distance, over there. It's pretty cold.

[campanas]

Pen is not bothered by the cold, nor apparently by the pedestrians, but she is bothered by the not knowing where she is. Hrmmm.

Well, none of these people speak a language she knows. So she tromps along the street, listening in case anyone who speaks something she speaks is available, trying to remember party people so she can check for more than just Jane and her family.

[witchwatcher]

After a couple minutes of wandering around, someone in a blue and green uniform spots the wings. He crosses the street to address her in several languages, stopping when English is a hit. "Hello. Please tell me, you are lost yes? Did the criminal Innata give you those wings, or are they your own? We can try to put you back home either way."

[campanas]

"The wings mine!" says Pen. "Dunno who Innata but do wanting go home."

[witchwatcher]

"Innata is a bad Witch who kidnaps people from all over and transforms them into things just because she can. Where are you from? Who gave you the wings? You're too young to have your own magic yet, I think."

[campanas]

"From Samaria. Wings from Mommy side of family. Have only little bits magic not much."
